Standard License Reference Texts
This collection supplies reusable reference texts for repositories adopting the
Open Source Licensing And Attribution Policy. Copy the
texts your incorporated code, documentation, or assets use into your repository's
docs/oss/licenses/, together with applicable companion texts. The collection is not exhaustive, and adopting
projects need not copy every file.
These files are reference material. Their presence does not license this repository or an adopting project under every listed license.
Sources
The original nine texts were retrieved on 2026-09-26 and are preserved byte-for-byte from the
sources below. GNU and Apache texts come directly from their publishers. MIT and
BSD texts come from the SPDX License List data at commit
31ba1a50e5397e00a304dbadc76531740e89ee48.
CC-BY-SA 4.0 and CC0 1.0 were retrieved on 2026-09-27 from that same SPDX revision and are also preserved byte-for-byte. They support policy attribution and the example-format dedication described in the root COPYRIGHT.
Using The Texts
- Keep standard wording, formatting, and generic copyright placeholders intact. Put actual upstream copyright statements in the component's attribution entry. Link project-specific notices and exceptions to the imported upstream commit.
- GNU filenames identify the text version. The attribution entry's SPDX
expression specifies
-onlyor-or-lateraccording to the upstream grant; a shared text does not select that grant for the component. - LGPL 2.0 is the GNU Library General Public License. LGPL 2.1 and 3.0 are the GNU Lesser General Public License; these versions are distinct.
- When copying LGPL 3.0, also copy GPL 3.0, whose terms it incorporates, and make both texts reachable from the attribution entry. Include other companion texts or exceptions when the component's applicable terms require them.
Record any intentional source refresh here and preserve the retrieved text without editorial changes. No synchronization service or recurring release check is required for this reference collection.
